MaNiDa - Foreṡìa
MaNiDa - Foreṡìa
(CD)
MaNiDa is an Italian quartet that formed in the summer of 2020 with the goal of creating an original and personal sound, without the use of harmonic instruments and blending jazz, classical, and pop influences. Their music is characterized by intricate melodic intertwining that alternates between episodes of melodic counterpoint with moments that recall choral harmonies. The diverse musical personalities and influences of the group members come together to conceive creative compositions that, along with an engaging performance, contribute to an immersive and captivating listening experience.
Rhythmically, some pieces feature grooves inspired by R&B and popular music, incorporating repeated harmonic vamps and riffs. Other compositions delve into elaborate harmonic structures, allowing the rhythm section to accompany in an open and unrestrained manner, drawing from both traditional mainstream jazz and its contemporary forms. The name Foreṡìa is taken from a term used in zoology signifying a parasitic relationship observed in certain organisms, where one attaches itself to another for the purpose of travel.
