The Norwegian trio works from the catchphrase: playing with each other’s tunes, each musician expressing their individuality in interplay. Briotrio performs original, modern jazz with references to American jazz tradition, incorporating elements of African rhythm, vocal music, post-bop, swing and more.

Their music is characterised by an acoustic sound, a playful, attentive interplay and a swinging groove. Vocal has been given a more central role since their last record, with singer Kirsti Huke joining as guest artist. The album was recorded in a church with reverb and atmosphere, impacting the interplay and communication. Most tunes follow the traditional jazz form “melody-solos-melody,” whilst some are more progressive and develop spontaneously. Each musicians have brought tunes, to be collectively arranged.
