“Mongibello Island” is the title of the debut album by jazz pianist Andre JahJah. It brings together unpublished songs with absolute freshness to the current jazz scene.

The album is thought out in a linear way, which contains: on the one hand, six instrumental themes, inspired by the characters from Talented Mr. Ripley, a book written by Patricia Highsmith. And, on the other hand, two instrumental themes that bring to light JahJah´s deep inspiration of Brazilian music, and in the most mestizo jazz, presented by the composers imagination and experience.

The different musical themes explore distinct jazz environments. From authentic, jazz ballads – deep, slow, with a complex harmonic framework and heartfelt solos - to resplendent, fast swing executions, pure speed and dexterity in every note. Different contrast a presented, between the fastest, and the slowest moments, the strongest and the softest dynamics, those of great virtuosity, and those of simplicity, different kinds of metrics, rhythms, structures.
