Mathisen / Breistein

«Mathisen / Breistein» is an ensemble started by guitarist Svein Rikard Mathisen and saxophonist Inge Weatherhead Breistein. Since they started playing together, they have written compositions that have been heard in the format of duo and quartet, as well as a commission work ("Mutant") for quintet, written for, and performed at, Nattjazz in 2017.

Inge has his education from the conservatory in Stavanger and, in addition to this project,  plays in the chamber ensemble 'Cirrus' who released the album «Méli Mélo» in 2013.

Svein Rikard was educated at the conservatories in Kristiansand and Copenhagen, and released his debut album, in his own name «Copenhagen Diaries» in 2015, with his band Somebody's Quartet.
